What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are non-invasive cosmetic treatments used to address various concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, volume loss, and sagging skin. These fillers, often composed of hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible substances, are skillfully injected into targeted areas to enhance facial contours, restore youthful fullness, and achieve a more refreshed appearance.

At Forward Healthy Lifestyles offers three types of fillers: Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Versa™.

• Juvederm® is a gel injection that is mainly comprised of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally existing component within our skin necessary to maintain its plumpness and hydration. Unfortunately, like collagen, it naturally depletes over time, exacerbating noticeable aging. Fillers such as Juvederm® can quickly integrate into your skin and help replenish the lost hyaluronic acid, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance. This hyaluronic acid-based filler is comprised of unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft, even improvement. It is most often used in the realm of facial treatments to:
• Temporarily smooth out fine lines and wrinkles (particularly, the smile lines and the other areas surrounding the lips and mouth)
• Treat hollowing or fine lines underneath the eyes
• Restylane® is primarily composed of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in our body. This substance decreases as we age, causing the skin to lose volume and wrinkles to start appearing. It works by instantly improving volume and reducing wrinkle lines. It can also be injected into the back of the hands to add fullness and volume for a smoother appearance. Restylane® is most commonly used to:
• Smooth wrinkles and folds
• Enhance lips
• Add fullness to the cheeks
• Correct moderate to severe wrinkles (including frown lines and laugh lines)
• Restore lost volume in the backs of hands
• Versa™, like our other dermal fillers, is a hyaluronic acid injectable that can help reduce moderate to severe wrinkles. However, with Versa™, has an almost non-existent swelling after injection. In fact, it’s been reported that 24% of patients experience less swelling when compared to other dermal fillers. Versa™ also has a higher molecular weight than other fillers which may result in longer-lasting results.

What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers, also known as lip injections or lip augmentation, are non-invasive cosmetic procedures designed to add volume, shape and symmetry to your lips. Using safe and FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based fillers, our skilled practitioners carefully administer the treatment to achieve a natural look that complements your facial features.

What to Expect During the Procedure?

During your appointment, our practitioner will discuss your goals and preferences. The treatment typically involves a series of injections, and while you might experience mild discomfort, we take steps to ensure minimal pain using numbing techniques.

The procedure typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes, and you can resume your daily activities right after, with minimal downtime.

Aftercare and Results

Following the dermal filler treatment, you may experience slight swelling, redness, or bruising, which usually resolves within a few days. Results are noticeable immediately and continue to improve over the next few weeks, lasting anywhere from several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used.
